High Noon Talk: XIT: A Story of Land, Cattle and Capital in Texas and Montana

Event Details

Starts: May 6, 2021
Where: Bullock Texas State History Museum

Join us for a virtual High Noon Talk on Thursday, May 6th that highlights the story of capital and cattle that built the Texas Capitol through a casual lunch-time lecture.

Join author Michael Miller for this story of Gilded Age business and politics at the very foundation of the American cattle industry.

To commemorate the opening of the Texas Capitol in May 1888, join us for a talk on the history that made its construction possible. The Texas state constitution set aside three million acres of public land in exchange for the construction of the state's monumental red-granite capitol in Austin. That land became one of the most productive cattle operations in the West.
