  1. I should have updated this a long time ago, but better late than never. The menu is good again!

  2. The smallest Alamo theater in Austin is also the flagship location. Nestled in the heart of downtown, right on 6th, is THEE Alamo location to go for all the unique cinema experiences. I saw one of my favorite films, Forrest Gump, with a live commentary by a trio of comedians riffing on it. Hilarious. I also saw a docu about police militarization with a Q and A with the director here. I also watched the North Korea controversial movie "The Interview" with an over the top, super fun pro America pre show. So download the app and purchase tickets for your next anticipated film, a quote along, or a q and a with a creator of a controversial film. Order a local Austin beer and enjoy the show.

  3. We viewed Split here tonight and it was a perfectly pleasant movie going experience. I had their Grasshopper milkshake while my boyfriend opted for their Irish Creme shake and both were delicious. I also had the chips and salsa and my boyfriend had their chicken tenders. He stated they were a bit tough but had great flavor. Service was awesome. We got out around 8:15 and it's not the safest feeling street in the world coming out so be warned. You're surrounded by bars so feel free to duck in and duck the pushy homeless.

  4. This was certainly a treat! I have been a big fan of Alamo Drafthouse since I started going over 10 years ago in San Antonio. Since then, I've moved to places where the Drafthouse opened up (Denver and San Francisco), but I've never made it to the original theater...until now! We went Saturday night to see Split and the place was packed! The experience was exactly as expected. The preshow was amazingly funny (ALWAYS GET THERE 30 MIN EARLY TO CATCH THE PRESHOW), the food was on point, and the service was decent. I only give 4 stars because parking can be a pain and the seats are super small!

  5. Dang, I love this place. Being major movie nerds we decided to catch a movie in the much raved about Alamo on a drizzly Austin day this weekend. It's very similar to SunRay Cinemas here in Jax but a bigger, even radder version. We bought tickets online not realizing that "row 3" is actually the very front row, we immediately realized our neck crippling mistake upon entering the theatre but the snack maid navigated us to the box office where we were easily able to swap them.

We settled in, the sweet snack maid patiently explained how to navigate the ordering cards- can i just mention how Austin is the most gracious, hospitable city ever? Hubs ordered a margarita whilst I enjoyed a Wise Man which were both delicious. We seamlessly used the cards to order a second round & just really enjoyed our entire Alamo experience. BRAVO!

  6. What iPhone has done to phone interactive experience, Alamo has done to movie watching experience. They are amongst the pioneer in setting up the standards, refining parameters and redefining the industry.
Specially all of its interactive, special screenings are worth the experience.
I have been to its sing along, quote along and similar types of special screenings. This Christmas we decided to check out the 'Elf' party. The movie is a classic so I don't need to talk more about it, but the way Alamo made it so much of fun was with props, pre movie loud burp competition (induced by eating spaghetti with maple syrup and drinking Coke), using balloons during snow fighting scenes , jingling bells when Santa was on screen...Its definitely a place worth experiencing if one wants to have a twisted and fun filled movie watching.

  7. I'm giving this place four stars strictly because I am a die hard Alamo draft house fan.

Location: The location is awesome....right on sixth with plenty to do after the movie. Only downside is parking. We parked in a lot a few blocks away.

Service: Mediocre at best. Our server forgot our waters twice. He also gave us someone else's beer order and charged us for it!

Other than the waiter, the movie theater was nice and clean.

  8. Alamo Drafthouse is always a fun place to go. The Ritz location isn't as good as other locations since it's located right on 6th street, which makes finding a  free parking place almost impossible during certain time of shows. The Ritz is also an older theater and comes with it a moldy smell.

The food at all the Alamo are pretty much junk food that can easily be microwaved. Great beer selection though which is a plus considering their food are very salty.

    Nice service overall!

  9. My new favorite movie theater.

I'm originally from Los Angeles and I can be a bit of a snob when it come to my cinemas. If the seats aren't comfortable, the projection isn't clear enough, or if the general audience is obnoxious or childish, it can really ruin my movie viewing experience.

That is not at all the case here at the Alamo.

It's like this place is designed and crafted with the film-fans in mind. First off, the building is an old cinema house so immediately you're taken back to the days of silent films and old black & whites. That feeling you get transpires into the pre-previews as well. We watched Captain America: Civil War, and the pre-previews were a show of 70's, 80's, and modern works of Marvel superheroes from around the world - it was a wacky and fun viewing so, GET THERE EARLY and enjoy it.

In addition to the pre-movie stuff is a walk-up bar with brews on tap. Also at your seat is a full service restaurant. In between each row is a wide walkway for a server to come by and take your order of anything on the full size menu found under the table in front of your seat. It's more difficult to eat after the movie starts (obviously) so get your grub on before the flick begins.

If I were to move to this awesome city of Austin, the Alamo would be a huge part of making that decision.

  10. Super cool place! I think their food is awesome and I love the whole idea of ordering food anytime during a movie. I like their wings and I think their loaded fries are really good too. Service was good and quick.
