One of Austin’s favorite homegrown restaurants, Lucy’s Fried Chicken, is now a lakeside Lake Travis restaurant. The offerings include fresh gulf oysters, an innovative take on comfort food classics, and fried chicken that’s pretty dang perfect. Scratch-made pies plus freshly-made sides and salads round out the menu while the bar offers an extensive list of imaginative craft cocktails and plenty of cold beer. Seven days a week – lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Live music too !

  1. I came here with my family on Labor Day after having tried to grab brunch at 3 different restaurants, and was pleasantly surprised by how much seating this place offered! We were seated right away, and after looking over the menu for a few minutes our server greeted us.

We ordered a round of drinks (their $4 HH frozen margarita was small but tasty) as well as the following for food:

    – Onion Rings: These were incredible and definitely something I’d order again
    – Chicken Tenders: Crispy and a generous in size
    – Wedge Salad with Fried Chicken: One of the biggest salads I’ve ever received! Delicious with loads of fried chicken – definitely large enough to split!

Overall experience was great, and the view was certainly something that only added to it!

  2. The view is stunning. The lake actually had water which added to the charm of this gorgeous restaurant on lake Travis.

The food, despite the less than positive reviews was quite good. I tried the tilapia sandwich and while the bread got a little soggy over time it was an enjoyable meal.

The service was quite good. Our host was exceedingly pleasant.

I knocked one star because of a mismatch and lack of reconciliation in silverware: 7 people, 5 plates and three sets of cutlery (lack of attention to detail). It was also quite hot and a fan to cool the place down would have been much appreciated.

    I’ll be back!

  3. The venue alone should encourage you to make the trip to check out Lucy’s on the lake. It’s situated off of 620 in the old Iguana Grill location (for those of you old time Austinites), and is a perfect oasis to bring friends and family alike. This venue has a ton of seating, from inside to outside, from covered to uncovered you’ll be able to bring the whole clan and find something for everyone- even your furry pets (as long as they’re on a leash!)

We honestly stumbled upon this one. It was Fathers day and I had been to Lucy’s before off South Congress, so when we drove by we were curious to check this particular location out. We had our dog Scotty with us and had spent the morning at a brewery in Dripping Springs so we knew we needed something dog friendly (as long as they’re on a leash you’re OK!) and we realized that this Lucy’s is residing in the old Austin restaurant Iguana Grill so we figured the view would be pretty good.

Upon walking in we were all taken aback by the great lake views, after all the rain we’ve been getting lately, the lake is really looking full and we were reminded of the amazing Texas hill country we live in! Since Lucy’s is known for their fried chicken, it didn’t take long for us to agree on a Bucket of Chicken. It comes with 12 pieces of chicken, which was plenty for our family of 5, and we decided to order some sides to come out with the chicken like corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and fried okra. Since my sister and I are big fans of oysters, we went with a half order of their Texan oysters made with house chorizo, garlic butter, house jalapeno salsa, and pumpernickel crumbs. And couldn’t pass up a basket of cornbread with tequila butter!

The whole experience at Lucy’s on the Lake was magical. Our service was good, the chicken was hot, crispy and tasted tender on the inside, and to eat it while looking at that lake, well you’ll just have to come visit them to find out for yourself.
