Parkside, 6th Street Austin Restaurant, a gastro pub in Austin’s lively downtown area is home to chef/owner Shawn Cirkiel. Located directly on Sixth Street it offers a casual venue for his unpretentious, but bold take on New American Cuisine. Offerings include a sumptuous raw bar—which often carries as many as 16 varieties of oysters. While the menu changes seasonally—even daily–diners can enjoy both dramatic dishes like seared scallops with butternut puree, jalapeno, and lime or comfort basics such as a cheeseburger or fried egg sandwich.

Fresh, ingredient driven food embracing the energy of downtown. An “oasis of sanity amid the drunken antics of Sixth Street”, this moderately priced Downtown American from chef Shawn Cirkiel is known for its “innovative” small plates, “great raw bar” and “interesting cocktails” served up by an “accommodating” crew; the atmosphere’s hip, and it’s open late too.

Parkside -- you are a marvel to me. You sit squarely in the middle of dirty sixth and radiate class. You've got things like martini mondays and blonde pate, champagne and oysters, bar steak and lump crab fritters. Meanwhile, yet another tortured rendition of Jack and Diane bleeds out of one of the bars down the street catering to $1 long island drinkers.

I remember when you first opened. I frankly wasn't optimistic. But here you are, still beautiful and accessible. We were here for a ladies happy hour club and had nothing but perfect service the entire time. All that stuff I mentioned up top arrived perfectly presented and tasty enough that there might have been some side-eye happening over the last couple of bites.

It's just a solid place to take friends, a date, an anniversary or a business group. The happy hours are fantastic deals and the dinner, while a little spendy, is consistent - something that isn't always the case in a new shiny object restaurant. And of course, you can always enjoy an after dinner $1 long island across the street.

I am in Austin, Texas currently and made memories of a lifetime yesterday evening with fellow real estate agents at the delicious Parkside restaurant on 6th street. I am very impressed with the high quality seafood they serve! I was greeted with amazing service and loved the decorative atmosphere. I started with the crispy calamari paprika and just as it sounds - delightful! My entree was a crispy salmon cooked and spiced to perfection. The vegetables were crunchy and fresh, and I must say I did not expect such a gracious portion! I have nothing but positive comments about Parkside and I can't wait to come back and try new items on their menu!

Ate here with party of five. Bone marrow appetizer. Duck Horn on the wine list. Salmon entree.
Need I say more. Foodies will enjoy. Only drawback is the noise.

Great oysters and scallops. Prices are a little high but what I expected given location and ambiance.
I'd recommend going for their Oyster Platter and champagne 1/2 off special (some Wednesday's I think) or happy hour.

Any port in a storm, but this one turned out to be a lucky find...

We were walking on 6th when we saw the rain coming, and hurried to find somewhere to hole up. This came up with decent reviews on Yelp, and we just made it.

Inside, we were greeted warmly, and service was great start to finish. It is more trendy than I like, and was pretty busy, but it turned out to be comfortable. They have a raw bar, which had a lot of business. We weren't starving so we just ordered apps. Our friends had the ceviche, and I think they just thought it was okay. Sweetie had the mac and cheese, which was good- baked, creamy, not very cheesy inside though. We shared some calamari- a huge plate, nicely fried, kinda salty. I had the crab fritters, which were very crabby little balls of awesomeness, and came with well-seasoned asparagus.

The decor was nice. Prices are pretty high, but I'll pay that for really good food. The beer list was disappointingly small, and they were out of my first choice.

All in all, a very pleasant surprise when we pretty much had to be there. I'd go back.
